Physician Services

h3gm has long been committed to helping its clients navigate the complexities of the healthcare industry. Our attorneys are well versed in the intricate and rapidly changing laws and regulations governing healthcare.  As such, we have extensive experience advising physicians in matters related to the business of running their practice.  Our attorneys understand the unique dual role a physician plays when it comes to managing a practice and caring for patients.  We understand the time demands on our physician clients, and we strive to offer solutions that will help alleviate some of those demands.

The Physician Services Group offers a broad range of legal advice regarding operational matters related to individual physicians, as well as single- and multi-specialty group practices.  We advise on the development and implementation of practice group operating structures; employment and recruitment arrangements; bylaw and policy development and implementation; and compensation formulas and income distribution.  We assist physicians with the full range of contractual issues they deal with; from medical directors and service provider agreements to joint venture agreement, to payor agreements.  When necessary, we also have experienced attorneys that handle dissolution, reorganization and restructuring.

A body of constantly changing governmental regulation further complicates the business of practicing medicine and our attorneys help physicians navigate their way through these intricacies.  We can assist in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement issues, regulatory compliance, EMTALA issues, certificate of need proceedings, licensure issues and responses to governmental investigations and inquiries.

When disagreements arise, h3gm’s litigation attorneys are there to aid in conflict management either through mediation or alternative dispute resolution; or, when necessary, before the courts of law.  We aid in commercial contract disputes, regulatory and employment issues.   h3gm attorneys also assist physicians in hospital medical staff matters, including the credentialing process and peer review challenges and medical staff hearings.

While we are committed to the success of our clients’ practices, we also understand that at the end of the day what is most important to our clients is not necessarily their business, but their families.  We have attorneys who concentrate on maximizing our clients’ hard-earned assets and preserving their wealth, ensuring its availability for future generations.  Our attorneys have extensive experience creating sophisticated, customized estate and asset protection plans for physicians and other high net worth individuals, designed to minimize income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax burdens while never losing sight of non-tax goals.
