MATT FOSTER focuses on real estate and municipal law. He advises clients on matters relating to real estate purchases, development, leasing and sales, (including planning, land use and zoning, environmental) and on issues pertaining to distressed properties. He is a Rule 31 General Civil Mediator, which allows him to mediate real estate and municipal disputes.

Financing deadlines, zoning board schedules and internal business timelines are some of the many elements of a real estate transaction. The challenges of organizing and addressing these complex issues are what drew Matt to real estate law.

Matt is also the city attorney for the City of Forest Hills, a residential city located in Davidson County, Tennessee. In this capacity he advises the city officials on legal matters affecting the city. Working with the elected officials and appointed boards, Matt advises on matters relating to ordinances, the city’s comprehensive plan, and land acquisition and development. He also assists in coordinating any litigation that arises. He ensures that the City of Forest Hills complies with all state and federal rules and regulations and that area residents comply with local ordinances.

Matt's career before he joined H3GM was in political consulting and marketing. His first job was as a special assistant to then Nashville Mayor Phil Bredesen. Matt received his J.D. at Vanderbilt University and later taught Professional Responsibility there as an adjunct professor.
