CURTIS CAPELING is head of H3GM's Technology and Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice focuses on advising companies with technology, software, intellectual property and knowledge assets on their operational and transactional matters. He advises start-up and emerging private companies, as well as public companies in a wide variety of industries, including technology, healthcare, biotechnology, media and professional services. Curtis also works diligently to protect and commercialize his clients' intellectual property rights.

Curtis negotiates mergers and acquisitions, technology transfers, licensing agreements and capital formation transactions, as well as the prerequisite due diligence that is necessary when a company has significant intellectual property assets. He also helps clients with their IP portfolio development.

Curtis enjoys helping entrepreneurs with great ideas or inventions get their ventures off the ground. This often includes advising on entity formation, working with angel investors and venture capitalists on capital formation, and negotiating and drafting agreements needed to develop, use or sell intellectual property such as employment agreements, noncompetes, confidentiality, joint ventures, licenses and strategic alliances. He also works with clients on website issues related to privacy policies, terms of use and compliance matters.

Curtis is a frequent author of articles related to intellectual property and is an editor of The Emerging Companies and Technology Law Report. He is a member of the International Technology Law Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
